The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Malawi met with Development Partners on Friday, 23rd March 2018, in Lilongwe, where they discussed ways of enhancing their partnership for sustainable development in the country.
The meeting discussed UN System’s contributions to national development priorities in Malawi through the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), promotion of human rights and better coordination of overall development assistance in the country, including through appropriate financing of the third Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS III) for 2017 to 2022.
The meeting came at a time Malawi Government has just launched the MGDS III.
UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Maria Jose Torres, said partnerships are crucial to improve human development in Malawi through the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The following missions and cooperations participated in the meeting with UN Heads of Agencies: African Development Bank (AfDB), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Embassy of the United States of America, Flanders International Cooperation Agency (FICA), the Delegation of the European Union to Malawi, Embassy of Egypt, Indian High Commission, German Embassy, Embassy of Ireland, Zambian High Commission and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
